The tab appearing top right in the frame indicates when the trigger is being pulled, note that the pilot only does so when the “pipper” of the lead-computing gunsight coincides with the aircraft being targeted.
The [DEFA cannon](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DEFA_cannon) that armed the Mirage was derived from a German WWII design and was a formidable weapon. Each high explosive shell contained around 50 grams of bursting charge so it did not take many hits to bring down a fighter. The Mirage carried 125 rounds per gun, enough for around 6 seconds worth of firing time.
1967? That footage is clear
There one minute vanished the next, amazing how good deflection shooting had gotten in the 20 years after WW2 built into the gunsight
The entire Mirage family was awesome, Dassault had no right to make planes this good and sexy looking.
Man I can’t remember a single conflict where Soviet fighters didn’t eat shit when fighting their western counterparts. No wonder the Russians invested so heavily into AA systems.
Why is it that the gun camera footage from WW2 better than from the 60’s and 70’s?
This looks like it was filmed through a chocolate bar 🍫?!
The 6 Day war etc, and other footage looks horrible. I would think it would have improved with technological improvements?
Is that Ran Ronen?
