Spain will take part in a European military mission in Ukraine in spite of strong objections from the government’s radical left-wing allies, a report said.

If there are forces on the ground after a peace agreement with Russia, Spain will have to contribute in one way or another, government sources told El País.

Spain remains cautious about announcing troop deployments. Its position is to “wait and see”, a senior defence source told the newspaper.
