Scots sex abuse victim’s harrowing email before he took his own life

1. >A sex abuse victim who took his own life after being denied anonymity by a major inquiry wrote a harrowing email to beg for his own life.

   >The email from Kevin Sutherland, personally considered by Scottish Child Abuse Inquiry chair Lady Smith, hinted at what he would do if she did not restore to him the anonymity usually granted to sex abuse victims.

   >But she refused and Kevin’s family believe that he committed suicide at the Firth of Forth as a result.

   What the fuck?

2. She gave it after death- that’s called covering your track!

3. > Kevin had originally ticked a box waiving anonymity but changed his mind after realising his 60-page testimonial of abuse could be found in Google searches.

   > He became fixated with the fear that people finding his story on the internet might wrongly think he was an abuser instead of a victim.

   Poor guy.

   > “She has to take account of all the circumstances, including that you signed an anonymity waiver in October 2022, which clearly states that once anonymity is waived that you cannot ask to be anonymous at a later date.”

   Sure glad ticking a box means that a victim can no longer change their mind, especially when it is clearly causing them great amounts of stress and anxiety.

   > A Daily Record investigation has revealed Lady Smith – the judge who has chaired the inquiry for seven years – was paid the same amount as some survivors receive in compensation for a lifetime of suffering for just two weeks of work.

   > Figures obtained from the Scottish Government show she has received just short of £2million in salary and pension contributions so far.

   Nice payday for her though at least.
