Ontario premier threatens to ‘shut off electricity completely’ for US if trade war escalates

  1. We all know its an empty threat. Right now everyone is posturing. Still haven’t seen squat but talk. We do have the Biden tarriffs on the Chinese goods, 25% and the ban on the cars through claiming the software violated national security. We still have the 25% tariff on pickup trucks called the “Chicken Tax”. Canada still has massive tarriffs on American goods, 300% on dairy. We have the “broom tax” with Mexico, 300% there also. I could go on and fill this entire sub with the amount of “unfree-trade” agreements we have right now. There is nothing these people could do to make it any worse really.

  3. Good for Canada. There are people outside the USA with a spine. Canada, Mexico, other countries no longer care about treaties with the USA because they know Trump will break them if someone laughs at his hands or his tiny, what Stormy said.

  4. Some folks at US power companies are giddy over this announcement. They will quickly get federal (EPA) approval to build more capacity with a guarantee built into a congressional law that Canada will have a long term 25% up charge (tariff) on all exports of electricity into certain areas in America after the new capacity is built.

  8. Without power, people will loose refrigeratoration and/or heat, hospitals can only go so long… Sounds like a dangerous threat.

    That’s one way to turn a trade war into a real war.
