  1. Good news everyone, this means that Keir Starmer is the greatest Prime Minister ever, our mortgage costs will come down and Rachel Reeves’ economic plans are saving the country.

Because this is the opposite of the news from two months ago when the pound hit a 12 month low against the dollar. Therefore the Reform shills in those threads will agree with my comments above because it’s the opposite of what they were saying then.

    Yes, sarcasm.

  2. I wouldn’t have much faith in the UK economy honestly. The US will be fine in the long run.

  3. Hey if the other team scores 3 own goals, it’s still a 3-0 win, right?

  4. So, all those US companies who increase prices post Brexit and the slump in the pound’s value will reverse this if the pound rises against the dollar right….. right?

  5. We may be up against the dollar but we’re down against the euro. It’s just the dollar doing really poor.

  6. This seems bad to me as I’m paid in $ but I’m sure there’s an upside.

    e: 🤣

  7. A lot of MAGA seems like a war on the Dollar.

I’ve heard it said that the Dollar is backed by the US military.

Reduce the military, remove its global reach, pull out of treaties, collapse the arms industry, put up tariffs and see the Dollar collapse.

  8. Fuck me there are some negative cunts on this site. Whether by design or happenstance is irrelevant, this offers an opportunity for the UK to attract further investment.

  9. Damn, been almost a decade since I’ve seen this headline… I’ve missed it!

  10. Is it strength of Pound or weakness of US Dollar though, due to Trump reasons?

We are down vs the euro.

  11. With four more years of Trump & Co. to look forward to, who claims this is just the beginning, it could get even better for us as time goes on.

  12. The news really needs to get behind this. Less stories about the failure of Tramp and more positive stories about the successes of Britain. There will still be bad news that needs to be reported on. But focussing primarily on the negative aspects of the US and our own domestic problems feels like one of those self-fulfilling prophecies. At least try and balance one positive story for every negative one. And if you struggle with that, then are you sure the problem is that such positive stories do not exist or because of a systemic failure in contemporary journalism?

  13. A long-term highly ambitious goal should be 1920s exchange rates. $5 to £1. Strengthening the economy, exporting more, lowering long-term inflation and making sterling an attractive reserve currency.
