[A Ukrainian soldier](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/russia-ukraine-war/) on holiday in Venice saved the life of a man who had been stabbed in a brawl in the alleyways of the historic city centre.
It is likely that Yanis Tereshchenko’s prompt intervention saved the young man, who had been wounded in the leg and was losing a large quantity of blood.
The man, reportedly Tunisian, had allegedly got into a fight with another Tunisian. The motives for the confrontation are unclear.
He sustained a stab wound to the thigh, which reportedly severed his femoral artery.
Mr Tereshchenko was returning to his hotel on Monday when he saw the victim lying on the ground and bleeding profusely, surrounded by panicked passers-by.
Ukrainians saving lives, no matter where they are, even on holiday, they never stop.
Can a man have a holiday.
Femoral artery wound no less. Well done to the Ukrainian soldier 😉
Hope he said thank you
Shouldn’t have intervened if he was in a suit
did the man have a costume? Did he say, “Thank you?”
Heroes of the Free World!
I’m from Venice and in our local newspaper they don’t even give credit to him. I just read the article online and it’s stated “a doctor passing by provided first aid”. I’m going to ask to redact the information
Not all heroes wear capes
His family gave him shit for carrying an IFAK for 3 years. He then tourniquets and saves the life of a child using said IFAK, 3 years of EDC. Wow.

He was able to use the first aid kit he has carried since joining [the Ukrainian army](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2025/03/11/ukraine-russia-war-latest-news-ceasefire-talks-us/) three years ago.
