>The chief justice, Mrs Justice Keegan, said the decision by the PPS not to continue the prosecution of Soldier F, as he is codenamed, for the murders of James Wray and William McKinney “crossed the threshold of irrationality” and was illogical.
>
>She said the PPS must now reconsider the case, raising fresh questions about the viability of new legislation planned by the Northern Ireland secretary, Brandon Lewis, to give, in effect, an amnesty to accused army veterans.
>
>The PPS announced last year it was discontinuing the prosecution amid concerns the case could collapse in light of a separate court ruling on the admissibility of evidence, which caused another Troubles murder trial, involving two military veterans, to be dropped.
Hopefully some justice after all these years of squaddies getting away literally with murder
*and please don’t have me have to remind you it is signed into international law by the UK government that the USA is a guarantor of the GFA*
Loyalists, “We’re gonna need more Soldier F banners.”
The number of people who support the extrajudicial murder of unarmed protestors by the security services on the streets of the UK is far too high. The lie that the IRA was in the crowd was dispelled decades ago. They were unarmed civilians on a peaceful civil rights march. Soldier F killed another civilian ten days before he opened fire again.
Murdering unarmed civil rights marchers is not something to defend.
There is a problem where you have a half a trial, decades late, with very limited to no physical evidence, for political reasons, then abandon it, then unabandon it, then adjourn for more appeals and health issues, where you might not actually end up with a result anyone believes. Let alone an accurate or just one.
