  1. This article is about the recent arrest and down for of Rodrigo Duterte. As well as other Dutertes. It quotes about recent events between two top political dynasties, the Marcos and the Dutertes. They also mention about Rodrigo Duterte removing the Philippines from the ICC in an failed attempt to stop the ICC investigate in the crimes they allege Mr Duterte has done.

  2. It feels really good to see him go down and meet justice. Finally a win for the ICC and accountability for monsters in the world.

  3. “which is supposed to be about accountability for serious international crimes, has ended up playing a decisive part in a domestic feud in the Philippines between two rival political forces.”

Lots of international law people ignoring this is entirely a domestic political maneuver-related outcome like the normative value of this if you wish, but there is nothing about law here.

  4. It is hardly “justice” when one oligarch throws his rival oligarch in prison. That is just a change of management.

The ICC remains a joke as it only really exists as a way for unstable and weak countries in Africa and Asia to throw their previous dictator to the courts so the new dictator can look good with the foriegn press and purge his opposition in a more acceptable way.
