Last year, the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB) investigated and referred for prosecution criminal proceedings involving alleged bribes to public officials in the amount of EUR 55,835.

The report also mentions possible material damage to public institutions amounting to EUR 716,798.

In 2024, the Bureau initiated 25 criminal proceedings, 13 of which were initiated on the basis of information obtained during operational activities, five on the basis of applications from natural or legal persons, one on the basis of information provided by the Administrative Offences Investigation Division and the rest – on the basis of information provided by other sources.

Last year, ten criminal proceedings under the jurisdiction of the KNAB were terminated. One criminal case initiated by the Bureau was transferred to the USA and another to France for further investigation.

In 2024, the highest number of criminal proceedings initiated by the Office related to unlawful conduct in the activities of state and local government institutions. The number of criminal proceedings opened for offences in public procurement and the financial sector decreased.

Last year, the Bureau sent 19 criminal proceedings to prosecutors. Cases against 41 natural persons and five legal entities were referred for prosecution.

In 2024, the most frequent crimes under KNAB’s jurisdiction were bribery, disclosure of confidential information, taking bribes, falsification of documents and forgery of office.
