  2. Well, that’s how Putin keeps his business: Western countries are positive-thinking democracies. Any new politician tries to convince himself that it’s not Putin who is a problem, but his predecessor who “failed to find a way to negotiate with Putin”; but when he realizes what’s going on, he is reelected and the new politician steps up.

  6. Bush turned on Chechnya and sided with Putin after 9/11 and even more so after the Moscow and Belsan terror attacks. Vladimir Shamanov aka “The Butcher of Chechnya” was even invited to the White House. Putin done him dirty here.

  26. Dubya was wrong on a lot of things – he was right to try to get Ukraine and Georgia into NATO. Unfortunately the far western NATO partners were too appeasing of Putin.

    If Ukraine had gotten into NATO and EU earlier, 250,000-300,000 people (Ukrainians, Russians, Koreans, and international volunteers) would still be alive doing normal every day things.
