Beatrice, 36, also shares three-year-old Sienna with her husband, as well as his son, right-year-old Christopher ‘Wolfie’ Woolf.
Commenting on her new role, Beatrice said: “The work that Borne is undertaking is something that is incredibly close and personal to me following the recent birth of my daughter.
“Every year in the UK, 60,000 babies are delivered too soon, with little information or research as to why this is.
“That is why I am really looking forward to supporting Borne and its programme of groundbreaking research, which I hope will help thousands of parents and children in the future.”
Prematurity affects over 15 million babies worldwide annually, including an estimated 60,000 in the UK and remains the leading cause of child mortality and lifelong disability.
The Princess of York joins other Borne patrons, including Will Greenwood and Caro Greenwood, Dame Darcey Bussell, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, and Erin O’Connor, all of whom share a personal connection to the cause.
