  1. This is just the Trump’s first term stuff. Nothing new here. It’s just reintroduced

  2. Why only Republican? I feel for the Dems but it should be everywhere.

  3. How would things be different here if there was a generalized acceptance of what is actually happening? Trump is deliberately destroying the country to please hostile powers and oligarchs within the country.

Europe and Canada understand, and are taking steps to protect themselves , but everyone needs to go all in with the fact. Why is anyone pretending this is business as usual?
    Especially the Democrats.

Thank you to Europe, this may or may not help. But what is actually happening isn’t caused by Trump, and that must be drilled into Americans before it’s too late.

Many people understand things are horrible but they still think it’s Trump and the Republicans. A simple clear coordinated message campaign must happen

  4. I really hope the EU don’t back down on this. I’m sick of the constant appeasing, and placating, and compromising every single tantrum that man-child has.

Ideally, the EU, the UK, Canada, and any other sane nation left would have a mutual-trade-defence pact – apply tariffs to any one and they all retaliate in kind. All 3 imposing retaliatory tariffs simultaneously should strengthen their hand a lot.

  5. Good.

Americans seem to believe they can impact the rest of the world but the rest of the world can’t impact them.

    They’re very, very wrong.

Did they not have enough enemies already? Add Europe to the list.

  6. The first time ended in a bit of stalemate. But this time while picking a fight with Canada, Mexico, China, Australia, AND the EU at the same time? Trump is an endlessly stupid person.

  7. And it’s not just the EU attacking exactly those states. This must have some serious impact.

  8. Let’s go Europe! Fuck ‘em up Europe!

    Love,
    Canada

  9. Only red states? If so that’s fucking hilarious. Bravo EU now increase it. Also stop all outbound flights to US. They can fly in but if they want to go back home they’ll need to travel to some shithole country like russia

  10. The EU will need to smarten up and cooperate with countries which US now targets, preferably all. If the EU chooses to go the Canadian way, so keep fighting for US interests while being attacked by US, the EU countries will get “slammed” back the same way.

  11. He is making sure the inflation numbers will go up to follow Russians 25%. While working on project 2025.
This all seems madness.. but it’s intended to completely disrupt America. There is so much going on right now that people don’t even know what to protest anymore. The break down of education, of healthcare. Social security, foreign affairs, economics. And an unseen power grab by the president.

Europe needs to smack back hard. Maybe if all the countries affected by tariffs do, there will come a new balance.
However by the time the US holds new elections it will already been destroyed from the roots. It’s the rise of a fascist state

  12. Now wait for the tantrum from Trump when he wakes up in 2 hours.

  13. Tariff tech, specifically social media. Everything else is putting band aids.

  14. The European Union on Wednesday announced retaliatory trade action with new duties on U.S. industrial and farm products, responding within hours to the Trump administration’s increase in tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports to 25 per cent.

The world’s biggest trading bloc was expecting the U.S. tariffs and prepared in advance, but the measures still place great strain on already tense transatlantic relations. Only last month, Washington warned Europe that it would have to take care of its own security in the future.

The EU measures will cover goods from the United States worth some 26 billion euros ($40 billion Cdn) — and not just steel and aluminum products. Textiles, home appliances, agricultural goods will be hit with tariffs, as will motorcycles, bourbon, peanut butter and jeans, the latter of which were also taxed during U.S. President Donald Trump’s first term.

The EU duties aim for pressure points in the U.S. while minimizing additional damage to Europe. The tariffs — taxes on imports — primarily target Republican-held states, hitting soybeans in House Speaker Mike Johnson’s Louisiana, and also beef and poultry in Kansas and Nebraska. Produce in Alabama, Georgia and Virginia is also on the list.

The European Commission, which manages trade and commercial conflicts on behalf of the 27 EU member countries, said leather goods and agricultural products beyond beef and poultry would be hit, including some seafood, nuts, eggs, sugar and vegetables.

    # Tariffs ‘not in our common interest’

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said in a statement that the bloc “will always remain open to negotiation.”

“As the U.S. are applying tariffs worth 28 billion dollars, we are responding with countermeasures worth 26 billion euros,” she said. “We firmly believe that in a world fraught with geopolitical and economic uncertainties, it is not in our common interest to burden our economies with tariffs.”

Trudeau seeks closer ties, trade with European allies also targeted by Trump

Trump said his taxes would help create U.S. factory jobs, but von der Leyen said: “Jobs are at stake. Prices will go up. In Europe and in the United States.”

“We deeply regret this measure. Tariffs are taxes. They are bad for business and even worse for consumers. These tariffs are disrupting supply chains. They bring uncertainty for the economy,” she said.

The American Chamber of Commerce to the EU said the U.S. tariffs and EU countermeasures “will only harm jobs, prosperity and security on both sides of the Atlantic.”

“The two sides must de-escalate and find a negotiated outcome urgently,” the chamber said Wednesday.

  15. Southern states in USA will truly suffer because of this. Not only is their import taxed now they can’t sell anything to EU. You need to buy the raw produce from Mexico/Canada that’s now taxed and EU is taxed when buying the finished goods. For the first time I’ve seen a few Trump supporters get angry as they often invest in Republican stocks like Trump crypto, Teslaz or Southern companies. And now their very own investments lost 15% value in just 3 weeks with Trump controlling the economy. They adore Trump. But they do want Trump to lower taxes. They are not interested in ANY economic fight that will leave them with lower stock value and no tax cuts. It’s not even a political debate for them. They legit lost money and can see it in the numbers black on white.

  16. So the US is now in a trading war with almost every big trading entity in the world, except Russia?

Mr. Trump is not beating those Krasnov allegations any time soon, is he?

  17. In the UK we are ‘disappointed’. We will not counter tariff however. We will just sit in a darkened room and fester in our disappointment. As we do not want to standup and hurt Donald Trump or our special relationship we have with the US 🥹☺️. Please don’t tariff us anymore … please our master 🥹. If you are to harm us do it gently 🥹 👃💩

  18. Ähm… what about US social media? Why not ban them?

  19. Stupid ass Republican states. Now the Democrat states that voted against Trump will have to bail them out even more as their local economy go down the shitter.

  20. Republicans you live long enough to see yourselves become the Russians.

  21. This is pretty boss move by our European friends. Gotta say. They get it.

  22. Thanks for recognizing that not every state shares responsibility for electing this fraud. The productive parts of our country might as well be under a hostile occupation right now, there’s functionally no difference

  23. Ebay should add a button to exclude search results from red states so we don’t accidentally buy anything from there.

  24. I love and am grateful for the fact that other countries realize it’s the MAGA idiots who caused this and so they’re trying to target them specifically when possible.
