If you are not from this area do you see it all as Birmingham or do you see the Black Country is its own thing?

  1. having lived there, its not all one thing with each town or region being distinct enough to be deemed seperate. Wolves is a city in its own right and nobody from Stourbridge is saying they are from Birmingham. The derbys between Villa/Birmingham City and Wolves/West Brom are the most vociferous and heated in England and only Celtic v Rangers tops them in the UK.

  2. I visit central Birmingham several times a week for work, and I couldn’t even point out the black county, I know it’s a thing and that people argue over it, but no idea whats there (i think maybe dudley)

  3. That used to be my ‘work travel’ area for well over a decade – Stourbridge to Solihull, Walsall to Tamworth & everywhere between [Coventry too, but that’s out of the map area]
I differentiate on ‘the nice burbs’ with hills & trees vs the hellhole of the urban. I have no clue where the borders of the black country might actually be. The outskirts are definitely a whole different place to the urban, though.

  4. The Black Country has its own history and awesome ass flag. As someone not even close to this area, I’d like to help keep everyone away from Birmingham as much as possible, so i consider them seperate.
