“Volevo essere un duro”, the Italian entry for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, has received Gold certification in Italy.
Lucio Corsi’s entry for Eurovision 2025 “Volevo essere un duro” (I wanted to be a tough guy) has gone Gold in Italy, as over 100,000 copies have been sold since its release. On Spotify, the song has now been streamed almost 25,000,000 times.
Lucio Corsi follows in the footsteps of all the previous Italian Eurovision entrants, as, starting from 2011, all of them reached Gold and beyond for their entries in their respective years.
Lucio Corsi will represent Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel, Switzerland. He will be performing his song “Volevo essere un duro” (I wanted to be a tough guy) directly in the Grand Final, on May 17.

Italy debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 and has participated a total of 42 times to date. Italy returned to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011 having last participated in the contest in 1997. The country has withdrawn from the contest on a number of occasions in the past. Italy has won the contest three times, the first time being in 1964 and the latest being in 2021. Since their return in 2011, Italy has finished in the top 10 on eleven occasions.
