On March 11, Japan marked the 14th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake, a tragedy that claimed thousands of lives and led to the Fukushima nuclear accident. The Japanese Embassy in Ukraine used the occasion to express gratitude for Ukraine’s support in the aftermath, particularly highlighting how the AN-225 “Mriya” delivered humanitarian aid following the disaster. The “Mriya” was destroyed by Russian forces during the full-scale invasion in 2022.
That’s the kind of collaboration I like !
Japan can build the next one.

As an aviation nut this absolutely breaks my heart.
It was actually so damn sad when the rapists destroyed the plane. It was so incredibly unique and whenever there was a really huge project, you could always count on it.
I expect them to build it again, once we got rid of the plague.
I never got to see her 🙁

Ahhhhh Mriya. She was a hero. I remember her landing in Toronto to deliver pandemic masks.
