  1. One has to punch the bully in the mouth or he will keep coming back for more.

Anyway, I don’t know why European politicians are pretending that Trump’s action vis a vis Canada are lunacy. There is a method to his madness and in this instance he has already made his intentions clear. He wants to expand the empire. Economics is his weapon of choice for Canada instead of a wave of tanks crossing the border.

  2. Ed davey is absolutely the worst person. He should be presenting on cbeebies with sunak

  3. Ed’s whole persona is being nice

His Liberal Democrats are the third largest party in the UK parliament and slightly center left in their policies

Starmer is busy trying to get a trade deal with the GOP so is keeping his mouth shut in public (hence no retaliatory tariffs yet)

I’m sure he arranged the Trudeau meeting to reassure him in private of UK support

The one to be wary of is the leader of the Conservatives, Kemi “kaze”

They would be shoved as far up Trump’s arse as they could get if they weren’t a rump of the party they have been in the last 14yrs of rule

  4. I love when they call MPs parliamentarians, reminds me of the civil war

  5. Sorry mate we’re currently in a conflict against Poutine over ukraine

  6. Dont let his nice guy appearance fool you. Remember he was Postal Affairs Minister during the Post Office Horizon scandal and chose to do nothing. Post Masters killed themselves after being falsely accused and he chose not to investigate. He is not a friend to the working class

  7. If you check out any republican discussion there primary reason for not wanting to annex Canada is because the increase in liberals would lead to republicans losing elections… not the fact that its fucking treacherous, dangerous, deranged, illegal and very fucking immoral

  8. How many daily mail readers will think poutine is the president of Russia

  9. Canadian here. My late Mum (yeah she’s always been Mum, bugger off with that Mom stuff) immigrated to Canada from Manchester with her parents in the 60s when she was 9. I just wanted to say I (we) appreciate your support and we love you and your Walker’s Cheese and Onion crisps and I only buy my H.P. Sauce imported from UK, the Canadian made stuff is terrible and comes in a plastic bottle.

These are terrifying times for us all and it’s nice to see your solidarity.

  10. They’re part of us, one of us, the British Commonwealth. Of course we should rally round them, Canada have always been the better country over America.

  11. Any support from British politicians is good. It is clear that the public and politicians back a closer relationship with Canada over the US at this point, so any clear indication of support can only be a good thing.

  12. Our international alliances must be based on shared interests and shared values. A transactional approach can work for a bit, but it’s fundamentally unsustainable.

When it comes to shared interests and values, look no further than Canada. They are on our side, and we are on theirs. They’re no Portugal, admittedly, but they’re still an incredibly solid ally. Bloody love them Canadians. We’ve been through a lot together.

It feels so weird to be pivoting away from the US, but we have so many other partners, and Canada is near the top of that list. Ed Davey is, as usual, completely right. If things really fall apart, I pray that we side with Canada over the USA. We surely must.
