  1. This marks the first time since the Baathist coup in 1963, that Syria and South Korea will have diplomatic relations. During the Baathist period, Syria was close to North Korea, and is believed to have played a significant part in establishing their missile and nuclear program.

    I can see South Korea becoming an important 3rd party partner for Syria, as it seeks to realign away from Russia & China, just as it has been for Poland and Turkey.

  2. The Alawite massacres have gotten me really shakey about Jolani.
