  1. lol I spent a night in a tiny room in Berlin jet lagged to hell and this was the only thing on the tv

  2. It’s Bernd das Brot. He’s a depressed, anthropomorphic loaf of bread stuck in the purgatory that is the off hours of the public German Kids TV channel.

  3. Its „Bernd das Brot“ its a speaking loaf Bread with short arms and always in a bad mood.

Its an „Kastenbrot“ (its similar to toast)

  4. It is the night “program” on a childrens television when nothing is broadcasted.
The clips changes here and there (years).
Bernd das Brot was usually a puppet series of a depressed bread and it was so popular it became the night program (few minute comedy on repeat)
Story: a computer voice keeps bernd captive and bernd tries to escape (no walls running out of the screen, exiting on the other side – like a loop)…

  5. The guy who welcomed drunk germans for decades now to fall asleep to, just after watching Harald Lesch or Bob Ross.

  6. Das ist unser neuer Bundeskanzler Herr Bernd Brot von der AFB Alternative für Brot

  7. Look up the original show “Tolle Sachen”. You can find almost the full run on Youtube. It’s how I have become acquainted with Bernd, Briegel der Busch, und Chili das Schaf. I watch it with my kids and it’s actually quite funny, plus good for German learning.

  8. I present to you our national treasure…. Bernd das Brot

  9. He was good company when I was home alone as a kid. He’s so unimpressed by everything that I started to be unimpressed by weird sounds outside in the garden. Great guy

  10. For a couple of years, there was a tram driver in Munich who had a large plush toy Bernd das Brot and on each and every of his shifts would put it behind the front window of his tram for the entire 8 hours.

It was surreal to see this Bernd das Brot tram randomly pop up at your station unexpectedly time and again.

I don’t know if that tram driver quit, went into pension or his supervisors found out and did forbid bringing his plush toy, but it’s not to be seen anymore.

Also: there’s a giant larger than life Bernd das Brot sculpture / statue in the city centre of Erfurt.

  12. Bernd is one of my favorite things about visiting Germany. I even bought a little plush Bernd so I can have my very own depressed bread with me…my emotional support depressed loaf, if you will.

    Mist.

  13. He is one of the most influencial and respected celebrities in Germany. If nothing seems reliable anymore, Bernd won’t let you down.

If you haven’t seen him, then it’s a Mist opportunity.

  14. Bernd das Brot (Bernd the Bread) he is one of our few patron saints and you will call him by his title “Seine Brotschaft” or if you must use the English version “His Breadcellency”.

  15. Bernd das Brot. Herr in Germany hes known as a really important Part of our Culture. He also has Depression

  16. I saw this at night and was very confused as to why he was floating in space with nothing going on. Very strange.
