Former Wellington Phoenix and Miramar Rangers midfielder Oliver Whyte has landed a professional contract with Qatar second division club Mualther SC.
Whyte (25) has joined the club after the expiry of his contract with Finnish club Haka in December.
Wellington-born Whyte spent two seasons with Haka, playing in Finland’s Premier League, known as the Veikkausliiga. He scored nine goals last year.
Whyte, who was selected for the New Zealand U-23 squad in 2019, played for the Wellington Phoenix reserves before joining Portuguese club Rio Ave in 2018.
Between two national league seasons with Team Wellington, he spent time with Turkish club Istanbulspor in 2020.
His last season in New Zealand was spent with Miramar Rangers in 2021, in which he scored 16 goals in 28 appearances.
