after weeks of contemplating i finally decided to text my roommate that she’s been having extremely loud s*x, in the living room which i share a wall with. She responded in a really rude manner and now im worried that she will make me run in circles to get back my deposit.

For context we have a sublet arrangement and we have agreed that i don’t use the living room. She’s been sleeping in the living room ever since the TV in her room stopped working.

We also have a language barrier and hence the broken english.

Legally is there any other way for me to protect myself or do something about it? or as a student are my options limited?

  1. “hence the broken English” LMAO. Where?

I know that wasn’t the main concern, but that was just funny

  2. She can’t just keep your deposit for no reason, the law protects you. You don’t need to to anything in that regard at the moment.

I don’t think her response is rude at all. You have a valid concern which you expressed, but her response is equally as valid. She doesn’t have to follow your request, she‘s well within her rights to have sex in either of those rooms. Even if I find it a little weird she‘d be okay with her room mate listening to her having sex, if she has the option to do it in a room that’s further away.

If that‘s a problem to you (which I totally understand) and you two cannot find a compromise, the only solutions are to either buy ear plugs and deal with it or to move to a different place where the landlord respects you more.
