I saw an article earlier where a man was jailed for 8 months for being in possession of 20e worth of heroin. Obviously it wasn’t his first conviction but nevertheless, our courts can jail a man for being in possession of the substance he’s addicted to but can’t jail this scum.
Is it our favourite judge who sees no issue with women or kids being assaulted ?
That guy looks like the guy from Love/Hate who got brain damage and Dermot Bannon got into the fly machine and this mutant came out.
I’m not that surprised considering that some people aren’t even getting charged after an acid attack.

After the sentence was handed down, the victim spoke out in court and said “there is no justice in it”.
“How dare he stand there smirking! Where is the justice in that? How do I live a normal life after what he did?” she asked.
Judge Melanie Greally noted that Cleary had ongoing mental health difficulties and said he “had neglected his mental health needs during the currency of the offending”
She said he has since re-engaged with the appropriate services and is considered to be stable and at a reduced risk of re-offending.
She said Cleary was entitled to credit for his early guilty plea, his admissions to gardaí, his lack of previous convictions and the fact that he has since addressed his mental health difficulties and has had no further contact with Ms Maher.

“My children are not going to get over what he has done. He has traumatised my three children and he is standing there smiling when my children are afraid in their beds. He is a monster,” the victim said.
“My children have to grow up traumatised because of his behaviour. There is not one bit of sorriness in him,” she added, before she said that Cleary’s supporters were smirking in court too and said she hoped they were proud of him.

Ireland letting loose dangerous criminals and weak law enforcement are the biggest threats I see, as a foreigner. The sheer number of cases where people like this are handed out suspended sentences is absolutely insane.

Every defendant in Ireland goes to a psychiatrist and claims to have mental health issues in preparing a defence. They’d be stupid not to. If you claim to be a homeless, drug addict/alcoholic with mental health issues you’re likely to halve your sentence or serve no time at all and are required to provide little or no evidence to support.
The Irish justice system is worse than useless. Not only is it completely inept, it costs a fortune in taxpayers money to keep it inept.

An ex of mine was murdered by a guy she was seeing for a couple of months. She had no idea he had previous domestic charges and he was out on bail pending further charges.
I don’t have any solutions but I also don’t think it’s right that scumbags like this are able to move on to unsuspecting people.
