  1. You can’t just say ‘no return to austerity’ when your actions are pretty clearly austerity. He just doesn’t like the negative connotations that come with the label.

    Unless they intend to increase public spending across the board, massively, it’s more austerity.

  8. Just can’t get over this guy being in power. He is more interested in wars outside our borders than providing security and healthcare for the natives. 

  9. Starmer is making cuts for the same reason why Clement Atlee made cuts after World War 2: Because the economic situation is that bad and he has no choice but to do this to balance the books.

    David Cameron inherited a much better economic situation. He and his party made cuts because they wanted to, with ideological zeal, then frittered away the money saved on unnecessary and indefensible things, like tax cuts, referendum campaigns and the triple lock.

    Department of health and social care or devolved equivalent

    NHS England/Scotland/Wales/Northern Ireland

    The local NHS trust.

    NHS England is a middle man agency that was set up to supposedly help the DHSC to implement government policy to the trusts.

    In reality it was useless at doing so. And caused more issues than it would fix.

    It going and being absorbed back into the DHSC is not a bad thing.

    or I guess cutting jobs, freezing benefits, punishing the most vulnerable and generally copying Tory austerity policy could just be something else. Somehow. Right??

  26. This scares me to hell. If Labour carry on with this same old Tory bullshit of even more austerity, then if easy to forsee that people will turn to Reform in desparation come the next election. And from there we will follow America down the hellscape of Trumpism-light.
