LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A couple of new specialty license plates could soon be available for Nevada residents.

State lawmakers have introduced two bills that would add plates for the U.S. Space Force and the Las Vegas Aces.

For the Aces license plate, the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles would work with the team on the design.

Like other specialty plates, there would be an initial fee and an annual recurring fee, and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Las Vegas Aces Foundation.

Aces fans began pushing for a specialty plate after the team’s first championship in 2022, even creating a petition. A spokesperson for the Nevada DMV at the time said the Aces would have to either submit a formal request or have a proposal approved by the state legislature to create a specialty plate.

A second bill would have the DMV add the U.S. Space Force to its specialty plates available for veterans and their families.

Veteran plates are already available for other military branches and the National Guard. The U.S. Space Force became its own branch of the military in 2019.

The bill would also allow anyone requesting a Gold Star plate to have it personalized.
