Zoë Më has revealed the story of how “Voyage” was created, the Swiss entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.

Switzerland’s representative, Zoë Më, has shared insights and details about the creation of her song, “Voyage”. Zoë wrote the song with songwriters, Emily Middlemas (iLi) and Tom Oehler back in July 2022 during the SUISA Songwriting Camp. Zoë, who was in Scotland at the time, joined the rest of the team in Switzerland via video call.

She began writing the song herself in Scotland and later sent all her ideas to her producer Tom. The creative process lasted for a while, with the team exploring different possibilites and versions of what would later become “Voyage”. She explains that very early on she was sure about the topic she wanted to write about and knew that she wanted to tell the story in French.

When I am writing songs, I usually have a story that I want to tell and then I try to find the right sentences for that. And then these sentences sound like a melody in my head.

Zoë describes the song’s message as how kindness and the act of treating each other well will create the best versions of ourselves.

I wanted to sing about flowers in the lyrics, because for me, people are like flowers. This means that flowers, when you water them, can become really beautiful. But when you cut them, they can no longer become a pretty flower, and for me the same applies for people.

Zoë will represent Switzerland at Eurovision 2025 in Basel. As the representative of the host country of this year’s contest, Zoë will automatically qualify for the grand final alongside the Big 5. She will also have the opportunity to perform in the first semi final in a non-competitive slot in the show, which coincides with the night that Swiss viewers are able to vote this year.

Switzerland hosted the first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 in Lugano, a contest that they also won. Lys Assia won the first contest with the song “Refrain”. It wasn’t until 1988 that Switzerland would win the contest again. Celine Dion won with “Ne partez pas sans moi” in Dublin, she beat the United Kingdom to victory by just 1 point. Switzerland won for a third time in 2024 represented by Nemo with “The Code”.
