Rwanda’s mining tour amidst accusations of exploiting DRC’s minerals • FRANCE 24 English

In the face of accusations of illegal exploitation in the DRC, Rwanda is organising a visit to its mines. At the invitation of the Rwanda Mines Board, France24 correspondent Juliette Montilly head to a cassiterite mine on the outskirts of the Rwandese capital, Kigali. Rwanda’s goal is to publicise its mineral production, as the country faces recurring accusations of illegally exploiting the natural resources of its neighbour, the Democratic Republic of Congo.

  8. Why waiting up to now after 30 years of DRC claims. What really proves that this is in Rwanda. Let there be freelance journalist that can go to Rwanda and confirm about this. Let other media be given access to this so colled Rwandan mine.

    This can only be the site where they collect all the minerals that they still from DRC.
    How can we believe a answer given a month after the question was asked?

  9. If neighbors have minerals, why do some people assume that in the same neighborhood no minerals? That is the lack of thinking critically and wisely. Some people are saying that there is cassiterite and no coltan, which is not correct. Do you know that coltan mineralization is often found together with cassiterite (tin ore) and artisanal miners produce “mixed” coltan-cassiterite concentrates? I visited some coltan and cassiterite mining sites and I sow both at the same mining sites. You do not know how Rwanda is rich in precious mineral resources If you go to places like Ruli, Cyabingo, Busengo and Kamubuga (Gakenke District), Muhanga and Kamonyi Districts close to Nyabarongo river and Ngororero District (Gatumba mining site) to mention a few you can see a lot of this. I visited Gatumba mining site in 2012 when I was an undergraduate student, and I was surprised to see how the place has developed into a big center because of coltan mining. In 2015 and 2016, I got the opportunity of visiting Ruli, Kamubuga and Cyabingo mining sites. In 30 districts, you can find so many places for mining things like that.There are many places I did not visit where there are huge amount of minerals. @ to everyone who is denying, Go to Rwanda, sit down and learn the country before saying!

  10. Look at the walls around the entrances of these mine tunnels—they were just built! This reminds me of the so-called FDLR "caught" at frontline in Goma wearing brand-new FARDC uniforms with brand name basketball shoes. Rwanda has been exposed with the biggest lie on T3 and is scrambling to prove something. This looks more like a tourist construction site than actual mines! #RwandaLies #RwandanDiversion

  11. Many vids show colton mines in the congo. There, lots of miners in tatters work with little dented shovels that are worn out to the hilt. They say they can’t afford a new shovel. Even a used one still in decent shape is out of reach to them. A wheelbarrow would be totally unthinkable. It would be to them what a Rolls Royce is to a homeless man.

While these people export tons of minerals even though they don't have large deposits or don't have any at all. The fact is France want to keep good relationship with rwanda for they own benefits in some country in africa with total energie. These media are manipulators, and you fall into their traps.
