Elon Musk, who leads the Department of Government Efficiency (CODE) in the Donald Trump administration, is known to have secretly visited the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA), drawing keen attention.
According to foreign media such as Bloomberg News and the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on the 13th (local time), Musk visited the NSA the day before and met with Timothy Hawke, director of the NSA and cyber commander.
In their interviews, federal intelligence agencies’ workforce reduction and organizational operations were intensively discussed, and “positive” conversations took place, NSA officials said.
However, it is unclear whether Musk inquired about specific intelligence data or military operations, NSA officials said.
The WSJ pointed out that Musk’s move is another evidence that he plays a central role in the Trump administration.
The newspaper analyzed, “Musk’s free access to one of the most famous and secret intelligence agencies in the United States clearly shows that he is exerting tremendous power.”
