Natalie Pinkham – the Formula 1 presenter who is a close friend of Zara, Eugenie, and Princess Beatrice, often joining the royals at a Grand Prix race or two – also shared a photograph alongside Princess Eugenie, Zara, and Mike Tindall. The glamorous TV pundit was wearing a hat in, yes, burgundy.

The colour seems to be all the range among the royals – perhaps inspired by the Princess of Wales’s adoption of the colour for her return to public duties, including her Blazé Milano coat during her engagement at the Royal Marsden Hosptial in January, as well as an all-burgundy look as she welcomed the Emir of Qatar to London, another example of her penchant for diplomatic dressing.

Cheltenham is a favourite event for Zara Tindall. As a former Olympic equestrienne, she is likely to spend her summer competing in elite-tier horse trials – Burghley and Hartpury were highlights last year, with the royal occasionally bringing along her children, Mia, Lena, and Lucas.

But Zara is as at home on the track as she is in the box and has conducted herself with grace and glamour across two days at Cheltenham this week. On Tuesday, the mother of three opted for a striking ‘bow bow’ hat in mustard yellow from Sarah Cant, which she paired with Chiswick ankle boots from Fairfax and Favour, the country set staple with whom she has recently announced a partnership.
