‘They just destroyed me’: Father Ted creator Graham Linehan breaks down in tears on BBC’S Nolan Live as he claims trans campaigners have ‘cost him his family and his marriage’

  1. I’ve loved his comedy shows – but if he’d just learnt to STFU (I’m talking about his childish jibes against/about the trans community, not the quite sensible-sounding quotes DM’ve used here), he would’ve been able to avoid this

  2. Graham, trans people did not steal your ex wife, she has free will believe it or not

    This guy is deranged

  3. I think his unhealthy obsession with trans people has done more to ‘destroy’ him than trans campaigners.

  4. What did Lineham actually do?

I don’t mean this in a facetious “he didn’t do anything” way, but a genuine “I have no idea of the backstory” way.

  5. I have no idea what the hell happened here so I’ll keep it brief:

No, doubling down on your vitrol every step of the way did that, not the people you targeted who found it offensive. Fuck off with trying to play the victim at your own toxicity catching up with you.

  6. 18000 upvotes on (pro-GL) comments, seems a little steep for an article with less than 200 (Edit: less than 20) comments.

On an article about the budget, with almost 800 comments, and the most upvotes is under a thousand.

    How… strange?

  7. [It is, ironically, a spectacularly unfeminist argument to say that Graham Linehan has ‘lost’ his family because of his trans fight, assigning absolutely zero agency to his wife.](https://twitter.com/RossMcCaff/status/1506984039982505988)

Graham Linehan threw away everything he had, to pursue a campaign of hatred and bigotry.

    – He doxxed trans people on dating apps.
    – He gleefully posted teenagers’ social media accounts so he could mock them, sending harassment and bigotry their way as a result.
    – He regularly yells at women who disagree with him, and takes away their agency by telling them that no, they dont want what they think they want, he knows better
    – He tried to sue someone for calling out his behaviour
    – etc. etc.

If I actually wrote out the full list i’d be here all day. And all of this, why?

Because some people said a joke in one of his TV shows aged poorly, and he couldn’t just go “yeah, my bad”.

Also, fuck the Daily Mail for the framing of that article. “Trans attacks”? If you relentlessly harass a minority group, and it has consequences, *you weren’t attacked*.
