Johnson Says U.K. Has ‘Bigger Fish to Fry’ in France Spat

  1. I’m surprised France hasn’t tried to get what is considered part of the European region changed to exclude the UK yet although Companies will probably keep the UK in region 2 which is used on DVDS and stuff

  2. They certainly do have bigger fish to fry. This whole fishing nonsense (an industry of a couple of billion) isn’t even comparable to the actual problems caused by Brexit. Such as remaining relevant on the economic stage while being cut out from the largest trading union in the world.

    > Intel not considering UK chip factory after Brexit

    > Intel is investing up to $95bn (£70bn) on opening and upgrading semiconductor plants in Europe

    >**The boss of Intel says the US chipmaker is no longer considering building a factory in the UK because of Brexit.**

  3. I think that’s the first time I’ve seen that figure of speech being literally relevant to the topic at hand.

  4. (Almost) No one cares for the fish, it doesn’t bring much to the economy of both countries.

But wait, maybe we should care for the fish. Just the other week I heard a report in DLF that scientists measured the amount of fish now and 100, 200 years ago by analyzing the sediments in the ocean. Fishes eat, and they shit. And this shit goes to the floor. So one can measure it. And we have now only about 50% of the fish that we used to have (actually I assumed the number much more, but keep in mind that this is the number for all fishes, even for fished that we humans don’t eat).

Why is this important? Because fish-shit falling to the sea floor binds CO2 for at least 600 years. And since the sea is so big, and the fish population is also so big, this adds up to considerable times. The scientists assumed that our over-fishing of the fish contributed to global warming the same (!) as our industial firing of goal/gas/oil did.

So if the two hecklers Macron and Johnson tie the fisherboats of the others into their harbors, they do something against CO2. Congratulations!
