  1. Chuck Schumer and whoever votes for this is endorsing everything Trump has done so far.

He’s also endorsing the fact that Republicans didn’t negotiate or consult with Democrats at all on this bill. Worst of all Schumer said that he was scared of Trump and what he might do during a shutdown, he’s a coward and Senate Democrats need a new minority leader asap.

  2. Guys, I miss the 4 year break we had from F5 Fridays 🙁

  3. 34 minutes ago from the AP in their live updates:

    >**Trump gives Schumer a shout-out**

Schumer is winning praise from an unlikely source: Trump

    >“Congratulations to Chuck Schumer for doing the right thing — Took “guts” and courage!” the president posted on his social media account.

    >Just a day ago Trump was gearing up to blame Democrats for any government shutdown. Now he’s saying, “We should all work together.”

You don’t say?! When Trump says you’re doing the right thing, and you’ve called him an authoritarian and leader of the oligarchy, then perhaps you should rethink what you’re doing Senator Cuck.

  4. You going to wear that Trump endorsement with a sense of pride Schumer?

  5. Probably utterly meaningless in the end, but here is what I sent through Schumer’s website (I couldn’t get through on the phone). Please feel free to use or revise.

    Senator Schumer,

I strongly urge you to vote NO on the continuing resolution. Your concern that Trump might exploit a government shutdown to seize more power and fire agency personnel is understandable. However, the painful reality is that he’s already doing precisely that—approving this CR merely slows down an inevitable outcome while failing to address the underlying abuse of power.

By voting YES, Democrats risk obscuring from the American public the severity of Trump’s actions and the dangerous precedents they set. It’s crucial for Americans to see clearly the depth of harm caused by this administration’s repeated abuses: storming the Capitol, attempting to end birthright citizenship, systematically denying the existence of trans people, and even deporting a legal citizen simply for expressing dissenting opinions.

Moreover, courts are already stepping in, consistently ruling these mass firings as illegal. Congress should follow suit and fulfill its essential constitutional role as a check on presidential overreach—not facilitate it. Voting NO demonstrates your faith in the strength and integrity of our democratic institutions, including the courts and legislative oversight.

Please stand firm. Don’t grant the Republicans, who’ve consistently undermined democracy and human rights, any concessions—much less the generous concession of this continuing resolution.

    Thank you for your consideration.

P.S. My six-year-old wanted me to tell you, “Stop being a little bitch.”

  6. Meanwhile the phone is off the hook at his office. So either is been ringing off the hook or they took it off to avoid calls. Probably the latter. Every time I’ve called … Busy

  7. Chuck’s reasoning is stupid. If a shutdown was better for Trump, then the republicans could just let the government shutdown.

  8. I think it is becoming more and more clear, our government does not work for the people, either Democrats or Republicans.

  9. Does anyone know if Schumer have the votes to get the CR through? Hopefully not as it seems even moderate dems are rebelling…

  10. What a stupid, fucking, hat worn by a stupid, fucking, person.

  11. Do not forget. There are 7 or so other Democrats willing to vote yes. Those people need Togo as well and need to hear from us.

  12. Trump congratulating Schumer and the stock market bouncing back because of his vote change. What a fucking coward.

  13. I’m scared for the education in my State. Arkansas has the some of the worst education, and it’s only going to get worse under the full control of Sarah Sanders

The new bill hurts red states the most ironically enough

  14. Another update from AP:

    >**Schumer vows a long-term fight over the Trump agenda**

Facing a groundswell of Democratic dissent, Schumer insists that voting for the Republican funding bill is better than a federal shutdown, which he says would give Trump and Musk free rein to gut the government.

    >“A shutdown would allow DOGE to shift into overdrive,” Schumer warned as the Senate opened.

    >Schumer said Democrats are not backing down and vowed a long-term fight against the Trump agenda.

Yeah, we don’t want them in overdrive, we just want them cruising in third or fourth gear! /s

Jeez, stop trying to defend it! If there’s a groundswell of dissent, and Trump’s is praising you for doing the right thing, then it seems you’re doing what Trump and the Republicans want, not your party or your constituents.

  15. The sense of dread when the senate gives Elon power of the purse will pair nicely with the sense of doom the tornados in my area are going to give me.

  16. Putting this out there in case anyone else, like me, is completely done with Schumer at this point:

I sent Schumer’s office a [free fax](https://faxzero.com/fax_senate.php) about voting no for cloture since he’s decided to close his phone lines.

But I’m also calling each of my own Senators with the following message:

My name is [name]. I’m a constituent living at [address].

I’m calling today to demand that Senator [name] start or support a movement to replace Chuck Schumer as Senate Minority Leader. Schumer’s weak, feckless leadership has consistently left Democrats on the back foot. He’s deeply out of touch with the base and the needs of this country. His recent capitulation to the GOP on their poison pill CR, abdicating Congress’ power and rolling over for Trump and Elon’s authoritarian takeover, is the last straw. Schumer cannot be allowed to continue leading Democrats in the Senate.

This is a life or death fight for democracy in America. Act like it.

  17. Anybody that votes yes on this CR hates veterans because it takes away billions in funding for vets healthcare. Is that worth it just to prevent a shutdown of the govt????

  18. I contacted both my senators to tell them to vote against this CR bill. Even if it means doing basically a Democrat coup against Schumer. I’d rather he be disgracefully forced out of his position than this going through.

  19. Can Democrats who oppose this like Bernie and Murphy take turns doing a talking filibuster? It seems like a good time for it. Schumer doesn’t want a shutdown, then these folks shouldn’t bring the vote too close to the edge. Talking filibuster for as long as you can, line up several Senators and fight dang it. Who cares if Schumer is the minority leader. He has shown himself to be weak, and we can still hold this up for a bit right?

  20. Sounds like both GA senators will vote no on the funding bill

  21. Schumer is really just gonna bend over with no fight at all?? So he’s complicit with Nazis and a government that breaks the Constitution and law. Wonderful. He needs to resign!!

  22. So when does the vote happen. I want to see the results and then dip.

  23. Schumer is voting with republicans, but so are ltjers, like AOC.

Why is all the hatred directed at Schumer in particular and not him as well as everyone else?

  24. Hey word is the other Senator from Vermont (you know, “not Bernie”) is following Schumer’s lead. Give ’em a call y’all

  25. Chuck Schumer has a book tour coming up. If you disagree with his decision to bow down to Elon and Trump then let him know how you feel:

BALTIMORE: Mon 3/17, 7 PM: Central Library

NYC: Tue 3/18, 6:30 PM: Temple Emanu-El Streicker Center

    WASHINGTON DC: Wed 3/19, 7 PM: Sixth & I

ATLANTA: 4/21, Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta

PHILLY: Thu 3/20, 1 PM: The Weitzman

SF: Sat 3/22, 1 PM: Corte Madera Store

  26. No more money to the DNC until Schumer steps aside. Full stop.

  27. Is there any upside to Chuck Schumer’s position? Asking because I really don’t know; curious if there are any other levers to pull down the line to try and put the skids on the madness.

Any insights / wisdom would be much appreciated.

  28. Do not let them distract you if this all falls through. Any YES vote for cloture was a vote for the CR. And every single one of them should be primaried. And if the state allows it, recall them!

ETA – apparently you can’t recall senators. I would suggest that be changed. These people cannot be unanswerable to the people for 6 years. It’s insane.

  29. Even Pelosi excoriating Schumer what an embarrassment

  30. Did Tim Kane disable his voicemail? Just tried to call and it kept ringing forever. Edit oh same same with Warner. Guess phones are flooded

  31. When is the CR vote expected to happen today?

Switchboard is getting bombarded I can’t even get to operator

  32. Can someone explain to me why this stage of the vote matters for Democrats? Don’t republicans have the vote without Democrats with their majority?
