Thief who murdered Amazon delivery driver in 60mph crash when he tried to stop him stealing his van is jailed for 30 years

1. I read this the other way around and thought the van owner was the one jailed for murdering the thief. Wouldn’t have surprised me though

2. Surprisingly tough sentence tbh. Actually the way the whole case progressed seems like a bit of a minor miracle, I’m surprised he wasn’t allowed to just plead guilty to some ridiculous downgraded charge like manslaughter or death by dangerous driving, and I’m surprised that he got such a reasonable sentence for a murder that wasn’t sexual or premeditated . I’d prefer they throw away the key but, hey, you take what you can get with the state of sentencing in this country.

10. Really need to start doling out high sentences as a deterrant to others, but discourage stealing of all levels.

13. British years are different from normal years. A bit like dog years.

    30 British years is actually only 10 normal years, so they will be out in a decade.

14. I think the problem is a lack of punishment for a lot of crimes like theft. People nowadays openly steal from shops, mug people on the streets, break and enter and rob peoples houses, and steal their vehicles. And unless they get caught in the act they’ll never get caught, the police and courts are literally entirely unable to go after anyone for theft or assault anymore. The only reason the cunt that killed the van owner is in prison is because things went south and he killed a man. Otherwise he would have sped off into the sunset and never have faced consequences. The problem is not just with robbery and theft but also with assault and battery. We have entire communities that are eating themselves from the inside out due to rising crime and lack of prosecution. I was personally left seriously injured by a group of foreigners driving extremely flashy 4x4s outside my house in a good community, a couple of years ago. Police had cctv of the vehicles and the blokes, but told me there was nothing they could do to catch them or investigate the case. It took me a long time to heal from the surgery, but even longer to swallow the injustice facing this country and move on with my life. I’ve finally managed to escape the UK for good, and will never be returning. I did return this year for one week on a transit flight. I couldn’t even understand how I had never truly noticed how utterly squalid and miserable the UK has become over the last few decades, and I don’t mean the weather. It’s everything: the economy, society, education, legislation..

15. Stealing a life from hard working man, in return getting 30 years paid for tax payers. Send him to toughest working conditions in the country, such animals don’t deserve to be part of society.

    Make him earn his accommodation and food, any extra should go towards people in need.

16. People might not like to hear this, but when I see the video of the guy getting arrested for it and the way he behaved, I would welcome the death penalty. He looks like an absolute waste of space scumbag who will never be any use to society, no matter how much anyone tries to rehabilitate him.
