I wonder how close to capacity mills in the US are already running, how much of our milling capacity is in Canada, how many timber operators are sitting around twiddling their thumbs and waiting for work, and what regulations states have in place. At last in CA getting a timber harvest plan approved is a lengthy process.
All that to say, I wonder how much damage they can actually do before the mid terms. I don’t think this can be spun up on a dime.
Obviously. Getting everything into corporate or private hands is entirely the goal.
As an outsider looking in, how far does it have to go before the states that don’t want this just stop obeying federal laws?
If I was from the pacific north west and trump came in to tear down my forests I’d want my state to start just refusing to enforce the law. The French are on republic no. 5. You can reboot if it goes into a death spiral as this one clearly is.
And Teddy Roosevelt another Republican is rolling over in his grave! I can see it now you go to Yosemite or as Trump pronounces it, YOS A MITE and their is not a tree in site! You ask the guy in charge where did all the trees go and he says the money from them went into Donald Trumps pocket!
🤬
What an Evil timeline we live in.
So… Does he realize that National Forests, managed by the forest service, are already managed to ensure sustainable, reliable, consistent timber supplies, that that’s the entire purpose of the National Forest Service, and that the logging industry benefits from it on the taxpayers’ dime? It’s not there to prohibit logging.
National Forests are a strategic resource, and the NFS is not an environmental protection agency except insofar as it protects the strategic reserve of that resource.
Saw that one coming.
Not going to happen.
These are not the same trees, or … the best trees to cut for houses…
