  2. Sorry… *Ascension*? It’s 88 square kilometres, there are less than 1000 people living there, it’s isolated to a comical degree. You might as well call it Prison Island.

  3. Out of sight out of mind and you can bet their appeals and applications will be denied due to the eventual removal of the human rights act. That’s if it even applies.

  4. Murdoch tried to push this policy on Kenneth Clarke when he was at the home office. Clarke flatly refused him saying it absolutely wasn’t on the agenda. Now Patel’s in and more than happy for Murdoch to write immigration policy. He obviously has a hardon for offshore concentration camps judging by what Australia has been engaged in also.

    Edit: it was prison ships for migrants that Murdoch was pushing. Rebekah Brooks (one of Murdoch’s closest lieutenants) said to Ken Clarke that she was running the government, and was pressing him on the policies her boss wanted enacting.

  5. My MP got angry at me when I called her spineless. Shit like this is why. Just follow orders.

    She got angrier at me than she has ever shown by Johnson’s illegal parties or disgusting anti-refugee stuff like this.

  6. Someone needs to keep talking about the cost. Didn’t a Tory backbencher last week point out it’s cheaper to put everyone up in the Ritz the this plan. Something like £2m per person!

  8. If Patels Prison Camps go ahead they’ll likely try and build one on a Scottish Island. Good luck getting planning permission approved by the Scottish Government. 🙂

    I feel though they really are nutty enough to try to bring back the refugee equivalent of Prison Hulks moored miles off-shore. :O

  9. They won’t say until they have approved of the policy, knowing full well they will attract a lot of criticism for their chosen destination. Wherever they choose, it will be chosen for its remote location and inhospitable conditions. It will be chosen as a warning to refugees and to show how tough Patel plans to be on them.

  10. Honestly, let the in the fucking country. If they have no legitimate reason for staying, send them back home.
    If they are legit, we have lots of jobs that needs filling.

    Managing it this way will immediately undercut the people smuggling operation sending people with dodgy dinghies across the channel.

  11. Patel let’s her family from India into England and she also gave aid money which was meant for soldiers and people living in the poorest parts of England to India and funded Modi trip to America.

    She also had secret meetings with Israel and to this day we don’t know what about and she refuses to tell anyone about it.

I mean to be fair sending lots of immigrants to a country with li zero restrictions is a really bad idea for example in Sweden a hotel full of Ukrainian refugee women was attacked by a group of Somalian refugees who were presumably going to attempt to rape the women, or in germany where 2 Ukrainian woman were raped by refugees from other countries. This is like setting up a bunch of Irish refugees together half being Protestant and the other being catholic and being surprised when the inevitable happens.

  16. Must admit, a small part of me would like to call her bluff on the, frankly insane, Ascension Island idea. Given the sheer diversity of asylum seekers we get in the UK it would probably be one of the most rapidly advanced utopian societies on earth within a decade.

    We move closer and closer to that being a reality by the looks of things.
