Since Gossip Girl and Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress Michelle Trachtenberg’s death was announced earlier this week, tributes have poured in from well-known faces across Hollywood and beyond. And now Princess Eugenie has posted a touching, personal tribute, using her social media account to remember the actress who was her good friend.

“Goodbye special friend,” Eugenie wrote in an Instagram story late Thursday showing a black and white picture of her and Michelle hugging. “You are so loved and missed. Thank you for so many memories of laughter and fun. You were so thoughtful and generous and soooo funny. My favourite was listening to you order food, always done with precision so you got exactly what we all wanted. I’m thinking of you up there friend, of your spirit that was so bright and your joy you brought so many.”

The message ended with two hearts. The pair are thought to have met when Eugenie lived in New York for one year from 2013, where she worked for an auction house. Michelle had posted pictures of the two of them together on her social media over the years. In one, she wrote about the Princess, “There are few people in life that you meet that you know are true and real. This lady happens to be one of them. Friends really do mean a lot.”

Michelle, aged 39, was found unresponsive in her New York City apartment Wednesday and pronounced dead at the scene. According to Deadline, the cause of her death will remain undetermined as her family have requested no autopsy be conducted because of religious reasons.

Others who have shared tributes include Michelle’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar and Gossip Girl star Blake Lively.
