  1. >The full-frontal scene in the most recent episode of The White Lotus has been the talk of the town — though Jason Isaacs doesn’t understand why.

    >“A lot of people are debating it. It’s all over the internet. And it’s interesting because the best actress…” Isaacs said before King quickly interjected: “You didn’t answer the question!”

    >Isaacs replied: “Well, I’ll tell you why, because the best actress this year is Mikey Madison at the Oscars. And I don’t see anybody discussing her vulva, which was on [the screen] all the time … so I think it’s interesting that there’s a double standard for men. But when women are naked, Margaret Qualley as well, in The Substance, nobody would dream of talking to her about her genitalia or her nipples or any of those things. So, its odd that there’s a double standard.”

    >Dokoupil added that Isaacs’ answer was “a bit of a dodge,” to which the Harry Potter franchise star responded: “It is a dodge because I don’t think that people really want to know how the sausage is made.”

    >He added: “Genuinely, I think it would be odd when there are characters — and some of the women are naked in here — it’d be odd if you were sitting here. And you would never dream of discussing their genitalia, not for a second.”

    >Later in the conversation, Dokoupil noted that he would ask women those questions if prosthetics were standard. “What is your obsession?” Isaacs playfully asks, and then adds, “Mike White is a brilliant writer; it’s the best series on television for a long time. And what is the obsession with penises? It’s an odd thing.”

  2. Jason Isaacs when people ask about his penis: “I’m smiling, but I am very fucking furious.”

  3. Wasn’t it just a prosthetic or even CGI anyway? It didn’t look real to me.

  4. I appreciate when males do nude scenes (because the majority of the time it’s women), I appreciate the art, but I don’t think it’s appropriate for the interaction or interviewers to keep going over it. It’s art and acting, leave it be.

  5. I mean if that wasn’t a prosthetic, that shit was NIIIIICE.

  6. Honorable mention for that scene in Altered Carbon. IYKYK.

  7. Eh. Not really. You don’t actually see the goods in women’s nude scenes. Just a bit of hair. If you full on showed a woman’s genitals in detail people would also freak out. everything isn’t some social issue to be unpacked.

  8. Almost never see vulva on screen. This guy is full of shit. HBO on a mission to have 1000 dicks shown for every vag, and even then it’s in a giant merkin.

  9. Seeing dudes naked on screen is a new thing. Growing up in the 80s it was always just naked women…lots of boobs…and no dudes really. Now seeing it evened out with more “dong” today…it feels more equal…even novel. It makes me happy to now see both and it not being one sided.

I’ve seen Anora. WTF is he talking about

  11. The double standard is that movies rarely show male genitalia which is why it’s so controversial.
