Westminster: have you considered quiet nights?

  1. Why do they have to be quiet? Surely no sane person would move to London’s main bar and clubbing area and complain about bar and clubbing noise?

  2. I once worked in an open plan council office, the noise team were on the floor, I constantly heard residents complaining to them and the officers complaining to each other about having to deal with people and investigating situations which was clearly run off the mill noise in an urban area rather than a serious issue. Once I saw one snap. I guess he was having a bad day, I heard him loudly on the phone. “So, how long have you been in the flat”. “Ok, and how long has the church been there?”, “hmm… Can you do me a favour, and have a word with yourself”. He then slammed the phone down and threw it across the office.
The point of my story is, people keep complaining about the issues these places generate, so of course councils are going to push back about getting more grief further down the line. People can’t have their cake and eat it.

  3. That sounds like fun!   I’m definitely paying 7 quid a pint to go to a quiet night

  4. I for one can’t wait until London is just empty second homes, expensive offices, and a few train stations for the travelling povvos who staff them.

  5. Have the people who don’t like living in Soho considered not living in Soho?

  6. Khan saying he will revolutionise London night life.
Councils saying ‘have quiet nights’ 🤷‍♀️

  7. I find people who can’t sleep through noise a bit pathetic and privileged tbh

  8. A councillor for Westminster is on record as saying Soho is not historically an entertainment district.

I mean, he’s probably right. But you’d have to go back to the 14th century.

  9. Silent disco pubs & pub quizzes. The next great untapped market

  10. Do some people not understand soho is the London equivalent of sodom and gomorrah?
