Hi guys,

I am seeking lawyer regarding naturalization and one of them sent me this power of attorney. I have never employed the aid of a lawyer, so forgive my ignorance on the matter, but does it sound right? I have two main issues with it, we agreed on a certain price (800) for the procedure and the last paragraph irritates me a bit in that regard, and my second issue is that I feel I am giving more power than needed to the attorney for a naturalization case. I appreciate any insight and input, thanks.

  1. Hi there,

It’s a standard power of attorney that contains everything that a poa might be granted for. What it is NOT is a mandate! They wont be able to represent and bill you without your mandate. So dont worry about that.

There will be a mandate (a contract, a letter or whatever) that will define the price and the scope of services. This is not it.
