ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) – A natural gas fired power plant located in St. Joseph County has been sold.
The 720-megawatt St. Joseph Energy Center is the subject of a joint purchase by two Indiana not-for profit electric generation transmission cooperatives: Wabash Valley Power Alliance and Hoosier Energy.
The plant is located off Walnut Road near New Carlisle. It began producing power in 2018.
Wabash Valley is headquartered in Indianapolis. It serves 23 electric distribution cooperatives in Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri.
Wabash Valley’s CEO said at a time when new generation is needed and it takes years to build, we could not pass up the opportunity to purchase an existing asset.
