TLDR:
* On the latest pisode of [*Pivot Podcast*](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HqFfX0A8UAc), Mackie, 46, opened up about starring in the 2002 drama with Eminem, 52. Eminem played Detroit rapper Jimmy Smith Jr. a.k.a. B-Rabbit, while Mackie played Papa Doc, the leader of the Free World rap group.
* “We’re doing the movie and you know Eminem is just such a brilliant dude,” the [*Captain America: Brave New World*](https://people.com/anthony-mackie-son-hilarious-reaction-captain-america-trailer-exclusive-8785677) star said. “We’re on set one day, and he’s like, ‘Yo, it don’t make sense we’re beefing.’ ” Mackie agreed. Eminem told him, “I need something on you.” The pair talked for “two hours” and Mackie shared more about his life.
* The next day, they were shooting the movie’s [final rap battle](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xh1ROLEDyP4&rco=1), where B-Rabbit triumphs over Papa Doc and his friends. And when Eminem went to rap about Papa Doc — revealing that his real name is Clarence, he went to private school and his parents are happily married — Mackie realized, “You’re talking about me, you’re not talking about Clarence!” Eminem’s raps had “nothing to do with the character,” Mackie said, and he noted that his aggressive facial expressions in the scene were because Eminem was going after him.
His real name is actually Clarence?
And he waited how many years to drop that little nugget of “truth” ?
Hahah he wishes, bro. He wishes…
His masculinity died that day, now his kids lock the doors
I’m glad to hear he’s got real nice parents.
easier to beat thanos
Wish Eminem would have done more acting, because understanding that this is how you channel authentic moments is an underrated acting trait.
That scene makes the movie, so him doing it that way without prompting or direction is impressive.
It’s really fascinating how these titles make a funny story seems like Eminem bullied him. Mackie kept laughing about that story when he talked about it in the video. But by the title you’de think otherwise.

I personally liked 8-mile, wish Eminem did more movies. He seemed so authentic in that role.
It’s been like 20 years bro
This needs to be said: “And?”.
Mom’s spaghetti…….
So, Anthony Mackies parents had a real good marriage? That’s nice to know!
But I know something about you, you went to Cranbrook, that’s a private school!
Isn’t that how rap battles work?
