Personally, I'm grateful that my dad, who worked night shifts as a Finnair mechanic, looked after us kids (read: fixed cars while we got into mischief) when my mum was studying to become a nurse. I asked dad if I could drink from a puddle. He said: "Give it a try." I did. Never had any symptoms of asthma.

  1. While i fully believe what the article says about benefits of nature play, i must say that playing in nature is not some year 2008 national policy induced phenomena, kids have been playing in nature here pretty much always. I would say kids have been playing more in nature before that year than after, if anything, because of habbits of free time have changed and kids are spending more time inside with games etc than just running around outside building huts and playing cop and robber.

  2. Our Swedish brothers have a saying ’Bättre lite skit i hörnet än ett rent helvete’.
