Absolutely nothing about local news sites (especially on mobile devices) is about delivering the news to people. It is about delivering eyeballs onto their advertising overlords.
[Reach PLC](https://www.reachplc.com/about-us/our-brands) produces all these sites. Their motto is “To enlighten, empower and entertain through brilliant journalism”. Their websites are entirely anathema to that.
What? I see no problem? This looks like a perfect user interface? I’ve always wanted an easy way to shop at “yimbly.com” and also there’s a helpful entertainment link of cool gadgets, perfect!
Genuine question – which bit of this was the content you were actually trying to read?
Modern journalism is nightmarish
Get a Raspberry Pi Zero W for 15 quid, install PiHole and tell your router to use it as your DNS. Means you can “enjoy” Belfast Live* without all the shit. It won’t improve the journalism though
