Eh, Belgian roads are far from the worst, much better than Italy or England for example. Dutch are just spoiled because our road quality is absolute elite level, bordering on insane. Coming from NL, even most German roads feel like crossing into the third world.
And when you finally get on their sweet sweet roads, you can’t go over 100km/h
I’ve never seen a pothole in my life, but to be honest, I also don’t travel much.

Tbh, their roads are in a far better state than ours. Because, when you’re off-road on a track, you know what to expect. Not in a so-called civilised country like ours. The state of the ring in Waterloo is quite concerning and potentially life-threatening. I’ve never been afraid down there in Africa

Maybe they should go around belgium instead of driving through Belgium and be co-responsible for the state of our roads.
I would love it if all Europeans driving through Belgium would have to pay a tax to use our roads like we have to do in France (ex.). Maybe then we would have the funds to make decent roads.
Now we are THE transit country that everyone crosses when going on holidays in the south. I am not even complaining about all the trucks on our roads …

This thread is full of hurtful stereotypes about Dutch people and Belgian roads, and I can tell from extensive experience that most of them are painfully accurate.
I never got the complaints about Belgian roads. I live in Seattle now, and potholes are a way of life. Two ruined tires in a year plus two tire repairs because of random screws / nails on the road.
its so when the germans ivade they will have a hard time going over our roads and just give up
