Good.
Wow finally some logic
Sensible.
Daddy like
This is already the case. If you are in the Limited Capability for Work-Related Activity group on Universal Credit, there is no automatic re-assessment if you begin employment. However, the more you earn, the more your UC is reduced, as it would be for any claimant who is in work.
Being in the LCWRA group doesn’t mean you never have to work (*therefore leaving you “trapped” on benefits if you want to work*), it just means you won’t be forced to by the DWP. There are still periodic health assessments to check whether entitlement is correct.
TLDR: Disabled Universal Credit claimants are already allowed to work without any automatic reassessment, but they lose some UC money if earning above the threshold, like all other claimants. This ‘*new*’ policy isn’t actually ‘*new*’.
Disabled ~~to~~ get ‘right to try’ work without risk of losing benefits *and have done for years.*
FTFY
Makes sense to me if they find it a good match will come off benefit if not try another job without the risks of losing their housing etc the devil will of course be in the detail
Good, a lot of employers straight up lie about the job anyway I wish this was for all people out of work 🤣
“Oh no you won’t get many lates”
Totally not me having 80% of 2am finishes and only being 64% because I took holiday to not do some of them, not actually to have a holiday
It is a trap
The social security net being made properly???
I had this 3yo on UC… Was deemed LCWRA but kept applying to jobs until I got something. I stayed on UC as LCWRA but for the months I got paid they took most of the benefits away. When I lost the job, obviously I had no salary so it went back up again. Not 100% sure what’s new about this? If you’re disabled and out of work, you should be LCWRA?
That sounds like a good idea
I have been signed off for around 6 years, I have a phone call from UC once every 3 months. I have a disability that makes it hard to go outside and interact socially.
I have asked and was refused everytime any work from home opportunities as that would of then put me in the “fit to work” category meaning id lose my benefits as to them I’d have to go outside and attend the jobcentre weekly. Luckily my advisor was understanding and told me about it without it causing any issues.
I am currently completing ‘hopefully’ my final course so that I can start work from home opportunities around Data Analytics. The opportunity only came about to start these courses thanks to my therapist going out of their way to get me grants for them.
I hope that with these new changes it means they will actually help people like myself who cannot attend/work outside but are willing to work.
How are they safeguarding against companies abusing disabled people tho?
I worked in WHsmith and it wasn’t even a secret that the managers got in clearly disabled people on benefits to do the shite jobs and then like a miracle the role no longer existed once becoming permanent was discussed.
