The recent debate in the United Kingdom concerns the idea of using military spending to stimulate economic growth, an approach known as “military Keynesianism.” However, there are doubts about its effectiveness, as increased military spending could divert resources from more productive sectors and not ensure sustainable economic growth. Moreover, although military spending has historically stimulated the economy during periods of recession, it has not always led to lasting benefits.
The question remains: is it truly effective to increase military spending to stimulate economic growth, or would it be wiser to invest in sectors like clean energy and technological innovation?
