  1. She should have got three times that amount…. father was an absolute creep

poor girl ended up being kicked out in a hostel in Dublin

  2. > A **teenage au pair** who said her host father made sexual advances towards her and touched her without consent while his wife was away is to be paid over €9,000 for sexual harassment.

    > The Spanish national said she had to resort to staying at a hostel after being **summarily fired and evicted** from the Dublin couple’s home, after being told by the host mother she needed to “get over what happened”.

The article is a lot worse than the headline.

  3. >Mrs B told his client: “I think it is for the best because I need to get over what happened between you two,” Mr Gill said.

Fool of a wife thinking the au pair is the only one.

  4. 9k in compensation for something disturbing like this, meanwhile there are chancers getting more than double for slipping on spilled milk in a shop. Kinda crazy

  5. What a terrible way to treat a young person to whom you have assumed a duty of care. Au pairs are generally, like this girl, in their teens and the host family is supposed to treat them like a member of the family. A teenager without family or friends nearby who is here to learn English being harassed and abused and then kicked out when they speak up, it’s appalling.

  6. The police ahould be questioning the husband about sexual assault and sexual harassment. The wife is an idiot. That poor girl should have gotten a lot more compensation

  7. They need to start naming these scumbags. Why do they keep protecting their identity? They’re only going to repeat this and future au pairs (or anyone for that matter) has the right to know what they are getting into with people like this.

  8. Why are they not named? Jimmy down the road caught with €5 worth of cannabis is named and shamed but not these cunts?

  9. This is scary stuff. She must have been terrified being alone in the house with that creep. Shocking stuff. Throwing her out on the streets during the pandemic was very cruel too. Far too lenient a sentence.

  10. IIRC the amount the WRC can reward is tied to the job paid. She hopefully will take a civil suit against them.

  11. That poor girl, that’s horrific. I wonder how many others he’s done that to, or how many more he will do it to considering he knows it costs €9k now.

  12. This isn’t the biggest part of the story, but:

    > The Spanish national said…

    > She arrived to Ireland in July 2020.

    >On 19 August 2020, Mrs B took the baby for a week’s holiday to Spain and left her husband at home to work

Why, if you have an Au Pair who is a Spanish National, would you go to Spain with the baby and leave the Au Pair back home?

  13. They said it wasn’t an employment situation but more of a ‘cultural exchange’ and then defended firing her by saying she wasn’t a very good worker. Fuck these people.

  14. Poor girl is probably traumatized after that, between the advances from the host father and the stress of having to find alternative arrangements. Hopefully she’s okay

  15. >Mr B sat next to her on the couch and “began rubbing both her upper legs up and down”

    Gross

  16. I had a few friends who were au-pairs back in the day and heard similar stories. I’m not surprised unfortunately hearing about this case.

  17. My mother (may she burn in hell) brutalised au pairs for years.

Everytime I would come home from boarding school there would be a new one living there.

So many left screaming from the house as I was growing up, she used them as cheap labour and manipulated even thing they could get out of them before them broke and left.

I hope people have better experience with Au Pairs but alot of people seem to abuse them.

  18. So it’s like being told a Laurel and Hardy film synopsis with someone saying “They did not!!!” at the end of every line and the person telling it saying “They did! And then –!”.

  19. Imagine finding out your husband sexually assaulted the Au Pair and instead of kicking him out you kick out the Au Pair. So fucked up

  20. Poor woman should not have had to go through that. I would love to know what the wife thinks of it all. Does she think it was innocent or a misunderstanding? Or is she going to leave him?

  21. Should have been rent for the next year averaging month since she’s been kicked out. Then damages on top for therapy. Plus then the 9000. THEN JAIL TIME. This girl is gonna have fucking so many issues now because of this man taking advantage disgusting. You think he did it just to her absolutely not these guys will continue to do so.
