I would like to visit Finland this weekend, I planned to ride snow mobiles through the forest and see the northern lights. Is there somewhere I can book this snowmobile and lights trip in PERSON?
I want to know this before I buy my flight from Germany, otherwise I will just have to book online but it’s gonna be a mess finding directions to the actual location if I book online so I prefer person.

Don’t bother with the northern lights tour. If they’re visible, you can see them without any tour. Basically these tours are a scam.
E: the weather forecast for Rovaniemi this weekend is quite cloudy so the likelyhood of seeing the northern lights is quite small.
German here that regularly visits Lapland. Pm me if you want tips, info’s or whatever. Enjoy your trip, Lapland is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been.
Northern lights you can never predict. Only yours that are worth doing for it are very expensive and likely booked months in advance. Some info in [my Lapland guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/Finland/s/9HlV8jhKJl).
For snowmobile yes it’s easy to rent one in person depending on availability, there are at least 10 companies near Rovaniemi that do this.
There are lots of tour offices in Rovaniemi, so I imagine you can visit one easily. Most of these tourist activities are shit and overpriced though, so don’t expect much. Rovaniemi is boring and ugly. Also the weather is going to be warm in the daytime, so it will be slushy and icy.
Plenty of places in Rovaniemi provide snowmobile northern light tours. While I personally wouldn’t pay for that (because it’s crazy expensive in the city) it is possible to do both at the same time.
Only visit Santa’s village if you’re into Disneyland-like stuff. My family and I went there expecting something completely different, but it’s really a super commercial place.
Honestly I would skip Rovaniemi entirely and go to Inari/Saariselka but I’m biased because I work as a guide there.
Someone said that if the Aurora is visible then it’s visible everywhere and that’s not true. Particularly if you are inside the city, it’s better to go somewhere darker and the tours cater to that. Of course if you have a rental car and aren’t afraid of getting stuck then just do that.
Snowmobiles can be rented, just have to research what company. Most tour operators have snowmobiles and guides and they won’t let you take a snowmobile on your own but there are a few places that might.
For the record, unless you have driven a snowmobile before I don’t recommend this. If you fuck up or get stuck the company will charge you a recovery fee. Snowmobiles are great fun, but they are dangerous and we get accidents all the time.
As a long time resident of Rovaniemi, I’d say save your money and visit us later. The weather has been mostly garbage this winter season, there’s no winter wonderland left, just ice and some dirty piles of snow. It’s just not worth paying for at the moment.
Also those northern lights tours are a scam, most people selling the service aren’t even locals but foreigners looking to make easy money. If it’s a good night for the aurora, you’ll see them even in the city. Don’t get robbed by people selling you nonsense.
I had a guide on the snow mobile ride and it was amazing. Stopped at a reindeer ranch for hot drink.
