    Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced the ban on 4 March in retaliation to US President Donald Trump’s trade war against Canada.

  2. I hope this continues after Trump, all their projects seem to go over budget, not that Canadian ones don’t but I’d rather see that money stay in Canada

  3. Most of the provinces have done or are in the process of doing this now. Will be close to half a trillion dollars

  7. I would also like to see municipal zoning laws changed to not allow American chains to open in the vicinity of local businesses of the same industry. An example is a Starbucks AND a Dunkin Donuts opened up across the road from the two local cafés in my neighborhood. Make it so they have to build in areas that aren’t serviced by local businesses already.

    I dont why nobody realises that this helps Trump. He always wants to do more and more extreme stuff, but waits for something like this to happen to justify it.

    Hopefully the CEOs of these big engineering firms will speak out against Trump. These guys are the only ones who Trump seems to listen to, even if occasionally.

  21. Was actually on a potential client call with a provincial crown corp recently and they actually grilled me about my vendors to understand if they were American or not.

  22. It should have a sunset clause contingent on the tariffs being reversed… If this isn’t reversible it fails to be an incentive for the US to reverse the tariffs.

  29. What’s considered a US contractor? Is it any company headquartered in the US. Or are companies with a Canadian arm and Canadian employees still allowed to make bids?
