    How can your party have such high approval on policies but you be so absurdly bad at championing them to the general public.

  4. Of course she is leading! Democrats love her and want her to be in a top position. But all the ancients of the old guard want to keep the status quo and keep being seen as the nobility.

    AOC understands that she is just a figurehead to get out the will of the people. The elderly Dems, like Schumer, want to be “the elite” while the masses struggle. True Republican-lite. We need a true party of the left and that’s the only way we’ll get out of this.

    This is important data. The voters want at least a /slightly/ left of center party, not a somewhat and more all the time right of center one. Give them those people and if we have elections again, you start winning more national seats.

  8. Tough to make anything out of this poll honestly. She got 10% which is impressive, likely showing she’s the progressive figurehead. But Harris got 9% and Jeffries 6%, and then a bunch of moderates got a percent or two. So it could just be the moderate side doesn’t have the same figure to rally around, not that AOC actually represents the whole party.

  13. If she is the choice, it is a guaranteed loss for the Democrats in the next presidential election for more reasons that I care to type out. This isn’t a comment on whether I like her policies or her, but rather a comment on the electorate of the USA.

  17. Polls aren’t reality though and shouldn’t be taken as accurate. Source 2016 and 2020 elections where polls said the person who actually won would lose.

  23. It’s weird, it’s like the more involved in politics people get, the closer to (global) center they identify with. It’s like the US doesn’t have a left wing party at all!

    Frankly, I’m shocked she’s only ahead by 10%.

    I had been a registered Independent (no party affiliation. Not to be confused with the Independent Party) voter for most of my life. Few years ago I switched to Democrat so I can vote in primaries. (State Law)

  39. Well, yeah, it’s a a no-brainer. Self-made, honest, dignified, and direct. That’s something every decent person can get behind. 

  40. And they moved heaven and earth to sideline her out of any important post. What a joke

  41. She’d be a great leader for Dems, but I’m not so sure conservative America is ready for her. We’d have what we had with Kamala, a choice that felt good and felt like it was working, but then a strong reality check on election day.

  42. She led with 10% with Kamala coming in second at 9%. This is not some pool indicating the market of Democratic voters think AOC is where the party should be.

    It shows there is no clear leader now and people were saying the names they hear in the news the most. I love AOC. She knows how to work the media and make headlines. She does not know how to pass significant legislation though.

    She uses her platform to advocate for things that are too liberal to pass Congress because she is in one of the safest Democratic seats in the house.
