  1. This is excellent news.

We need to look at ways that bridge the gaps between the two communities and education will be one of the key areas of focus.

This is a good thing and money well spent. If it can help alleviate poverty and social isolation among members of the Travelling community as well as Roma, it can only serve a beneficial tool for increased social cohesion, a better educated workforce and reduced unemployment and crime rates.

    I’m…. all for this.

  2. This is a really crucial financial support for groups who underperform in education and it will be a valuable way to help young Roma and Traveller kids stay in education longer term. Great initiative, to be applauded, nevermind the haters.

  3. I’m not a fan of the way Travelers are treated as a holier than thou community, however, anything that can help a child from the Traveler community break the cycle and puts them in a position to improve their quality of life gets my backing.

  4. The only obstacle to travellers accessing education is their own families and culture. We need prison time for parents removing their kids from school

  5. good, travellers are one of the worst educated demographics in ireland and we need to do more to improve their education rates and literacy

  6. Always remember the stories of how they’re actually the smartest people. Never pay tax in their life, squats on land until they own it(25 years), free electricity from the street lights, collects multiple doles as they mostly have multiple ppsr numbers by registering the same kid in different hospitals before computers were around. The rest of us, working paying tax, mortgage, bills and they’ll still own their land before us.
