The number of single-person households in Austria has been increasing over the past two decades, with 1.6 million people now living alone, according to ORF. The proportion of Austrians living alone rose from 14.6 percent in 2004 to 17.8 percent in 2024, with the majority being women over the age of 65. Meanwhile, the number of married people has slightly decreased, while the number of unmarried individuals has risen.

FPÖ wants to intensify ties with US Republicans

The Freedom Party (FPÖ) is working to strengthen its relationship with the U.S. Republican Party, particularly with Donald Trump’s faction, reported Der Standard. FPÖ Secretary General Christian Hafenecker stated that Hungary’s ruling Fidesz party has acted as a mediator in these connections. Lower Austria’s Covid Fund disburses only a fraction of its budget

The City of Vienna is set to purchase the Generali Arena, home of FK Austria Wien, for €39.4 million, reported Die Presse. The stadium will remain in the hands of the club, which will pay an annual rent of €1.4 million. The fraud was uncovered by chance when his lost wallet, containing a fake ID, was found. Investigations revealed that he had been de-registered from university in 2005 but had been working as a German and sports teacher since 2010. He has confessed to the charges.

Teenager arrested for knife attack in Vienna

A 17-year-old male was arrested on Sunday after allegedly attacking a passer-by with a knife in Vienna’s Donaustadt district, reported Kurier. Before the incident, he is believed to have vandalised several parked cars. The suspect fled the scene but was later found at his home, where police seized the knife. The 57-year-old victim sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment.
